1-2 Artists will be exploring how to communicate emotions and stories through various types of lines; 2-D geometric and organic shapes; primary, secondary, warm, cool, and complimentary colors; contrast through plain vs. pattern, geometric vs. organic shapes, warm vs. cool colors, textures vs. non-textures; the creation of physical textures; the use of regular patterns; symmetrical balance; and regular rhythm. In addition, we will describe and analyze art from throughout history and the world by examining work by Dali, Litchenstein, and Johnson among others. Some artistic challenges we may embark on are silhouette resists, pop art self-portraits, Wild Things clay creations, and Polynesian resists.
